Comics on Consoles is about to make its long-awaited return for its tenth issue, which will be timed with the cinematic release of the highly-anticipated Marvel Studios film Avengers: Infinity War late next month.
The subject game is 2008's Iron Man, developed by Secret Level (later Sega San Francisco) and published by Sega in May of 2008. By coinciding the release of issue #10 with the latest film in the storied Marvel Cinematic Universe, Comics on Consoles hopes to celebrate this film – and the MCU's tenth anniversary – by looking back at the multimedia event that started it all: the original Iron Man film.
In addition to Comics on Consoles' trademark look deep into the production of the subject game, we will also be exploring the history of the Iron Man character itself: how he was created, which personalities at the House of Ideas were pivotal to his development, what the source material has done with him over the course of fifty years, his long and winding journey to the silver screen, and how Secret Level ultimately decided to translate the character to the interactive medium of video games for the very first – and, sadly, one of just a few – video games directly inspired by what would come to be known as the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
